Have you ever held a toothbrush, driven a car, or used a smartphone? If so, you have already come into contact with the power of good design. Design at its core — helps make peoples’ lives easier by simplifying a message through a logo or simplifying their life through a human-centred product. First impressions mean everything these days. People make snap second judgements to decide whether they will trust your brand/look elsewhere for solutions.

Here are three concise reasons why good design is essential in business today:

  1. Stand Out: In a crowded marketplace — standing out is very important; your colour, logo + design style — whether simple/complex, tells your clientele who you are. It also showcases how you want to be perceived in the marketplace. The marketplace is very crowded; so it helps to set you apart. Your logo + designs can also help tell your client exactly how you can help them. As the Chinese say — a picture says a thousand words.
  2. Improve Sales: when a brand’s design is tailored to showcase they can solve their clienteles’ challenges — clients’ can connect with the brand easier; which in turn could improve sales.
  3. Build Fans: Fans are more committed to your brand + growth than clientele/customers. Customers buy services/products they need from you; fans buy everything you sell. The right design consistency, allows you to build a concrete fanbase.

Design is about creating order. Its importance lies in making the human condition of living more attractive, more convenient, and more easily understood. Consistency in design is the key factor to building a thriving brand.
